Javi Ferrer: «Although the Ferrer Tennis Academy goes to La Nucia, we will try to have headquarters in Xàbia»

January 02 from 2019 - 06: 59

A few days after the end of the 2018 year, we knew, through the media, the new challenges for 2019 of the Ferrer Tennis Academy; a new construction of this school in the town of La Nucia. In order to know the details of this new journey of tennis players, from Xàbia.com we contacted Javi Ferrer, director of the Academy, while he was in Australia accompanying his brother David in the tournament that he played there and which is part of his farewell to the elite tracks in this 2019.

First, Ferrer points out that the Tennis Academy "He will leave the Jávea Tennis Club, but only part of it, both comxicotetion players and some members of the technical team, although the academy will always try to have a headquarters in Jávea, since this is where we were born and here we want to live. The ATF will always remain linked to the Jávea Tennis Club. "

On the fact of having chosen La Nucia as a place to implant the academy, the director emphasizes that the value of the multidisciplinary complex of the sports city of this town, "We saw that there were all sports, both majority and minority. For values, we liked the idea of including tennis in the sports city of La Nucia."

But for Javi, this trip, more than a possible expansion of the Ferrer Academy, "It is the continuation of the work done for many years and to have a headquarters that can live up to many academies in the rest of the world, is an illusion." The director of the Academy comments that at first, "We tried to have a single headquarters in the Jávea Tennis Club, but being a social club is complicated and, although most members agreed, there is always a minority group that does not want to leave their comfort zone, as happens in all social clubs and I think, that is why, there are less and less fans of tennis in the Valencian Community "

With the new project of the Tennis Academy Ferrer does not change its philosophy, "Our priority and our philosophy is to instill the education and values of sport through tennis, which is our specialty and, if in the future we can organize great tournaments and discover new talents, then even better", indicated Javi Ferrer.

For this 2019, Javier and David will be together. David asked his brother to accompany him in his last tournaments with Paco Fogues, his coach, "And so the two of them can help tennis players to find their best in the final stretch of his career as a professional player".

And by the time David hangs up the racket, "He will continue to be part of the ATF as a partner, he has always been part of the academy and especially the Jávea Tennis Club (giving his image without ever asking for anything in return)", said the director of the Tennis Academy Ferrer.
