History

This Christian Filà is formed, from the Central Board of Festivities of Moors and Christians de Xàbia with the purpose of continuing to grow the festivities. The fact that it was a row of the Christian side was due to the fact that some of the rows of the cross were dissolved and there was no equal participation between both sides.

Thus, the idea arose to found a new filà involving the protagonists of other festivals in Xàbia, the Fiestas de Les Fogueres de Sant Joan, the fifth and fifth.

The objective was liked, some of the components took office to continue year after year, it did not come until 1999, a year after its creation. From there, the Filà de Pirates de Sant Jaume i Sant Joan grew.

In 2000 it was consolidated with members who were already part of the Filà Pirates, becoming two squads, one for men and the other for women.

During the 20 years since its consolidation, the filà has had ups and downs of components, currently being a total of 13 people who form a mixed squad. Its doors are always open for those who want to be part of the filà and enter these festivals.

Name

The main idea of ​​the name was the Pirates de Sant Jaume i Sant Joan by the two saints who celebrate the festivities in Xàbia. Sant Jaume for the Moors and Christians Festivities of Xàbia and Sant Joan for Les Fogueres, since as we have mentioned, in the beginning, the fifth of these festivals formed this filà. With the consolidation of Filà, the name changes to be Pirates de Sant Jaume.

Banner

In reference to the name of Filà, the banner is shaped like a sail, representing the sail of pirate ships. In it, the symbol of the skull, as the main element of the pirates, heads the mast. In addition, the Xàbia coat of arms, with the representative skull bones, shines in the central part of the banner.

Clothing

Pirates de Sant Jaume is distinguished by its typical pirate costumes marked by the black and red color in the battle suit: Musketeer boots, vest, pants, sash and bandana.

In the gala parade, the costume is more elegant, with glitter and marked by a tricorn hat and the face of the skull.
