Almost 200 boys and girls enjoy the summer at l'Escola d'Estiu de Xàbia

The departments of Youth, Childhood and Education of the Javea Town Hall have launched this July a new edition of l'Escola d'Estiu, a service that allows families to help reconcile work and family, so complicated during school vacation periods.

In total there are 196 boys and girls who participate in the 2023 edition. They are divided into two groups, those who are up to ten years old who are in the Mediterrània School (146), and those between the ages of 10 and 14, who are at Play Jove and Casal de Fogueres (50).

Until the end of August, the participants in this Escola d'Estiu will carry out sports, cooperative games, group dynamics and other types of activities from 09:00 to 14:00.

As explained by the councilor of Servicios Sociales, Youth and Childhood, Fatima Jarjor, "there are 21 monitors who are looking out for the boys and girls of this summer school", he has also pointed out that there are some children with special needs who "are in school like the rest".

Expansion of places

Jarjor has commented that for next year, the department he directs will study whether it is possible to expand the available places in the summer workshop "in order to be able to incorporate families that have not been able to sign up for their little ones."

And it is that, in the call for this 2023, about 260 families applied for a place at the Escola d'Estiu, leaving about 60 on the waiting list, which will be called in the coming days as the places drop. granted.

For its part, the Councilor for Education, Mavi Pérez, has wanted to value the importance of this municipal service "to help the families of Xàbia in reconciling work and family, offering a safe space and with professionals for their little ones".
