Decorated streets of Xàbia: Tossal de Baix and Sant Pere Màrtir win the Fogueres 2023 awards

This Thursday morning began with the visit of the festive people to the decorated streets. The Children's, Youth and Quintà 2023 Commission toured different streets of the historic center to visit each of the streets where the residents have dedicated hours and hours of work, as well as imagination.

During the parade, the prizes have been delivered to the winning streets. On this occasion, Tossal de Baix and Sant Pere Màrtir have been chosen as the best by the jury.

First prize

The first prize went to Tossal de Baix street where the Spanish deck of cards and the tradition of playing the game of cards have been the theme chosen.

The deck appears painted by hand and hung all over the street. In addition, in different corners you can see the installation of a table with drinks and cards simulating this meeting between friends.

On her way down the street, the eldest queen of the Fogueres festivities, Arantxa Pons, has been in charge of delivering the plaque and the economic prize to the residents.

Second prize

The second prize went to Sant Pere Màrtir street -last year he already won the first-. The enchanted forest with Snow White and the seven dwarfs catch the eye of those who walk down this street. The decoration has been made, mainly, with recycled material.

Originality and creativity in the decorated streets

And although the other streets have not achieved the decorated street award this year, it is necessary to highlight the work, originality and creativity that the residents have carried out to participate in filling the streets of the historic center of Xàbia with color and joy.

The natural environment has been the main axis of the preparation of the decoration of the streets. On Jesús Nazareno street, different animals hang from the top of the road.

In Carrer En Forn, bees are the protagonists. The street is full of leaves, trees, oranges, hornets' nests and honeycombs.

In Sant Cristòfol street, the owls and flowers that decorate the street. The merit of this elaboration goes to the sole creator of the street decoration, a young neighbor who has been the one who has made the decorations to maintain the tradition.

Sant Josep street is filled with joy with the colored garlands that cross the length of the street from end to end. The colored rockets, an essential symbol of the festivities, have been the decoration of Virgen de la Merced street.
