Xàbia will have Música a l'Estiu: this will be the new format of the festival in 2024

07 March 2024 - 23: 27

During these last weeks there has been controversy over whether or not to celebrate the historic Summer Music Festival. An activity with 38 years of experience in which it has undergone various changes. Now, in 2024, it takes up a new path with the help of the Department of Culture and the Professional Conservatory of Music of Xàbia. "So yes" -review Mavi Pérez-, this year the Festival will be celebrated again although with new airs and without losing the essence. This has been confirmed by Anna Bas, director of the Conservatory accompanied by the mayor of Culture, Mavi Pérez, and the Conservatori faculty.

Música a l'Estiu is open to all musicians

Bas has stated that Música a l'Estiu continues forward with a new format full of enthusiasm and accommodating all musicians. Música a l'Estiu opens to all the musical specialties offered at the Xàbia Conservatory, at 17 p.m., and not just the five on which it is based on previous editions - flute, oboe, clarinet, French horn or bassoon. .

The director has pointed out that in addition, with the new format of the festival, all those students who wish can participate without taking into account the level of musical studies, "this was one of the premises that we proposed each year when we met with the Festival management, but "It was never carried out."

The new edition of the Estiu Music Festival comes with a renewed air after "the deterioration suffered year after year," says Bas, who explains that from now on, each year, the course will be taught to five different specialties, thus giving the opportunity to all musicians and offering variety to the public.

But the changes will not only be these, but Música a l'Estiu 2024 includes another dynamic. The academic year will be taught in the month of April, "we think it is the best time to do it both for students who are in school and can serve to improve academically and for teachers who will have more availability."

Regarding the course, for which interested musicians can now register, this year it will focus on trumpet, French horn, trombone, tuba and guitar.

Music Programming at l'Estiu 2024

On the other hand, the concert program that includes this festival will be from July 9 to 12 at the St. Bartholomew Church, "thus avoiding the ambient noise of summer nights and giving prominence to the music itself."

On April 12 will be the official presentation with an inaugural concert by guitarist Ignacio Rodes, an outstanding concert pianist, winner of numerous awards. From there the course will be taught and the Festival will be held in the month of July.

A concert by Korean pianist Jeongin Kim is scheduled for July 9. On July 10 it will be the turn of Joaquín Riquelme, viola of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and José Enrique Bagería, concert pianist and professor at the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu de Barcelona.

On July 11 there will be the concert of Spanish Brass, one of the most established brass quintets on the international scene.

And for the closing, on July 12, there will be two concerts. On the one hand, it will be the musicians from Xàbia, Darío González (guitar), a student at the Conservatori Professional de Xàbia and current professor at the Conservatories of Meliana and Catarroja, and Pepi Lloret (soprano), who will star in 'Músics amb denominació d'Origen Xàbia'.

For the closing, the Gorgutes clarinet quartet, which includes Miguel Gonzalo, a former student at the Conservatory, will be in charge of putting the finishing touch to this first edition of the new Musica a l'Estiu format.

How is it possible that a party that boasts that its number one is a professional musician trained at the Javea Conservatory does not support this project? What will it have against it? Does anyone understand?
