El Javea Town Hall recognized last weekend the great skill of the children's team of the Club Handbol Xàbia, whose players were winners of the Spanish championship.
Laura Escudero León, Inés Castelló Cholbi, Àfrica Cruanyes Parra, Rocío Sola Mirion, Allegra Cruanyes Valdés, Carmen Alberola, Teresa Font Pedrós, Irene Mayor Aranda, Julia Alemany Carrió, Martina Sapena Vidal, Michelle Rico, received along with their coaches Elena Hierro, Pep Hierro and Pedro García received a gift from the mayoress, Rosa Cardona and the Councilor for Sports, Toni Molina.
During the event, Martina Cardona addressed a few words on behalf of all of them, but not before thanking the families, their support and accompaniment, as well as Elena and Pep Hierro, the coaches. «We are a team that has shown what we want and that we help each other, we give everything on the field and this year will be unforgettable for all of us, we have reached something that we did not expect even in our wildest dreams. I hope that next season we will all meet again."
For her part, Elena Hierro, stressed that achieving the Spanish championship is "the result of hours and hours of work, sacrifice, passion and humility" of this group of girls. She acknowledged that the season that has ended "has been a dream" that would not have been possible "without your hours, dedication and enthusiasm." Finally, the coach stressed: "We still have many things to achieve."
On behalf of the club, the president, Carol Cholbi, intervened, who valued the team's achievements despite the young age of the players. "You have shown us that you are great, strong and brave", which has allowed them to achieve the 2023 Spanish championship, a milestone that she described as "a dream come true". She highlighted the gratitude to the club's coaches "who make what has been achieved today possible" and to the main sponsor of the team, the company Electrobombas Jávea.
The event was closed by the mayoress of Xàbia, Rosa Cardona, who described the team as "heroines" for having reached the highest point in the Spanish championship after beating the Barcelona team in the final. Cardona wanted to refer specifically to some of the girls on the team who are not from Xàbia (they come from Altea, Alicante or Elda) and "they are as if they were".
Cardona highlighted the "work and dedication" of the board of directors and especially Pep Hierro and acknowledged that juanlu cardona, who is a government councilor, has informed you of all the needs of the Xàbia Handbol Club.
Finally, the mayoress opted for "being able to fill the plenary hall many more times" because it will mean that "we celebrate many more of your triumphs."
