The second edition of Xàbia Negra arrives next November. It will be, specifically, 3 to 5 this month when it will offer a wide thematic programming in the black cinema. As in the first edition there will be literary debate tables, photographic exhibitions, cinema, theater, theatrical routes and storytelling, as presented by the Councilor for Culture, Quico Moraguesnext to the mayor José Chulvi.

The festival of Xàbia Negra is based on the criminal and suspense world in all fields as it unites literature, film, photography and theater. In addition, in this new edition, the students of the two institutes of Xàbia have been part of the organization and that will contribute their participation in the programmed activities. And, the two schools have studied the black genre, have opened a contest of stories and work on the preparation of an interview for the authors who will participate in the festival. Also, within the educational field, the author, Pasqual Alapont, of the novel that the students have read, L'Infern de Marta, will offer lectures to students.

Comxicotetions for short films, photography and literature

The festival of Xàbia Negra includes three comxicotetions in which there has been a high participation. Short films, photography and Literature in Valencia, are the contests that for some months had been open the deadline for submission of papers. The Film School has collaborated in the visualization of the shorts for his later selection of short winners. As explained by Isabel Bilbao, representative of this group, "This year they have received a hundred short films and it has been very difficult to decide the winners."

There has also been a high participation in the photography contest being over 250 photographs presented. Of this total, the Agrupaciò Fotogràfica de Xàbia (AFX), in charge of choosing the winning images for the exhibition, has selected 50, "which will be exhibited in the exhibition that will be installed in the Mercat Municipal on the days of the festival", pointed out José Alberto Tur and José Vives, The rooster.

The winners of both comxicotetions as well as the story will be announced at the gala that Xàbia Negra will close Sunday afternoon 5 at the Jayán cinema.

In addition, the Municipal Mercat will host, during these days of Xàbia Negra, "a book fair that will make the local hospitality join the scheduled activities", said Quico Moragues.

Great authors

In this second edition of Xàbia Negra will take part prestigious authors like Vicente Garrido, Ferran Torrent or Toni Hill, besides three writers in English language: Gordon Brown, Craig Robertson and Alexandra Sokoloff.

And is that, as explained edil, this year Xàbia Negra premieres twinning with Edinburgh's Bloody Scotland, which in addition to the participation of a bookstore specialized in English books helps to project the event internationally and will increase the participation of many foreign residents in the activities.

For his part, the mayor and head of Tourism, José Chulvi, has highlighted that this festival rounds out the already powerful cultural offer of the municipality and helps to seasonalise, as it is a very attractive proposal to decide to spend a weekend in November in Xàbia. Chulvi has indicated that it is a festival for all audiences, with activities for all ages and that allows the literature lovers to contact first-rate authors.

  1. NEIGHBORS OF PLAYA DEL ARENAL says:

ONCE AGAIN A CULTURAL ACT FOR THE MUNICIPALITY THAT IS ONLY CELEBRATED IN THE TOWN. Ah, no, sorry, a literary talk has also been programmed in a private place and a theatrical route through the Port when the house of the famous legend of the Criminala was in the Montañar ... this is the Xàbia Negra festival, a great investment of which the spent does not transcend to enjoy a few spaces and all "well" located. We do not say that it is wrong but Jávea is much larger and more varied than what is tried to convey and it is time that what we all pay reaches everywhere and does not stay in the same places all the time.
