About twenty boats will participate in the 'XV Picudo del Mediterráneo Fishing Tournament'

A total of 20 vessels have formalized pre-registration for the XV Fishing Tournament in Height Picudos del Mediterráneo Memorial José Ignacio Simó 'Polillo' that organizes the sport fishing section of the Club Nautico de Javea.

The tournament will be held on Saturday and is part of the annual calendar of activities of the Fishing Section of CN Jávea, along with the trophy of Fishing Xamber and Local Championship of fishing to Currycán. Some tests in which both the section directed by Daniel Maestre and the Club's directors aim to inculcate sport fishing among the youngest

In the trophy of last year the boat was imposed Sedal Two of Daniel Maestre with a total of 86 kilos in captures. They also got the special prize Weevils of the Mediterranean, when fishing a picudo, mark it, photograph it and return it to the water.

On the podium of honor they accompanied the Sedal Two, José Luis Martínez at the head of the Clave de Luna with 71 kilograms fish in total, and in third place were the crew of the Calabuig, with a total catch of 62,70 kilograms.

While, in the category of individual piece, the Clave de Luna, with an albacore of 15,2 kilos; in second place Javier Pardillo was in charge of the Noah with an albacore of 14,9 kilos, and third was Jordi Canet del Calabuig with another albacore of 14,8 kilograms.

Very strict bases

The bases of the tournament include the way in which the captures must be made since in this test the most weighty species captured are awarded, as well as the boat that together has more weight. In this regard, catches should be made in the form of Trolling Height with rods and reels for pelagic fish and are not allowed to throw lines that are not mounted on the rods, or traditional arts (hand curry, busarda), or Saltillo , Jigging and Spining.

Also the bases collect the species that can be fished and the modality since there are some that must be returned to the water. This is the case of the Imperial Needle, swordfish, white marlin and blue marlin. Meanwhile, Albacore, little tunny, skipjack, frigate tuna, bonito and llampuga can be fished although they must have a minimum weight of 4 kilos. The prohibited species are: milt and bluefin tuna and bluefin tuna.

The registration for the test closes this Friday, when the meeting of employers will take place and the final instructions will be given for the departure, which will be on Saturday at the first hour.
