An Altea company will study the 'carrying capacity' of the Cova Tallada

16 October 2017 - 11: 51

As already announced before the summer, the Cova Tallada will have access restrictions. During those months, measures were put in place to avoid the overcrowding of people to the cave through tourist excursion companies. "And although in this 2017 there have been much less incidents with respect to 2016, the influx of public has been high", said the director of Parque del Montgó, Joseba Rodríguez.

Rodríguez said that he has already been awarded the contest to carry out "a study of load capacity that will indicate, in a serious and objective way, what concrete measures to take and how to act in the face of next summer, since they are the months of more public influx".

The company responsible for developing this study is GEA Ambiental, Altea, which has five months to study and write the report that provides a solution to the well-known massification of this cave, as explained Joseba, "We know that there is a lot of influx, that the carved cova is overcrowded by the large number of visitors, that by free route, goes to know this area."

The new study will determine the capacity of visits that this emblematic cave located under the Cape San Antonio.
