A new pumper vehicle joins the Xàbia Civil Protection fleet

10 March 2021 - 10: 45

A new rapid response vehicle becomes part of the Xàbia Civil Protection fleet. It is a pick-up and off-road traction that has been transformed into an emergency vehicle. The vehicle is equipped with a 600-liter tank and a tank for foam concentrate; a very powerful pumping system (30 horsepower) to get good performance from the hydrants, a steel winch for crane functions and an air intake system "snorkel" which reduces engine damage when wading or traversing flooded areas.

In addition, the fire engine is also equipped with a transmitter connected to the Comdes emergency network and is armed on all sides to facilitate the storage of hoses, chainsaws, bilge pumps and other materials.

The acquisition of this new fast response car has been thanks to the contribution of the Javea Town Hall with the grant from the Alicante Provincial Council within a line of aid aimed at preventing fires in municipalities and which Xàbia also allocated to forestry work in Capsades-Rebaldí. The cost of this new vehicle, which is the sixth that the group has, has been 72.600 euros.

The person in charge of the Civil Protection Xàbia, José Vicente Serra, has pointed out that it is a very useful vehicle to reinforce the rapid response, a first intervention while the firefighters arrive, avoiding complications from emergencies, whether they are fires or floods.

For her part, the Councilor for Security, Pepa Gisbert, has highlighted that this local group is one of the first to have the official accreditation to participate in extinction tasks and has added that several volunteers are becoming professional in this sector, "And this summer they will have three interns who study the higher emergency course".

Likewise, both the mayor and the Mayor of Xàbia, José Chulvi, have thanked the dedication and effort of the 50 volunteers in each emergency as well as during the pandemic.
