María Cardona is received at the Xàbia City Council for her national title in Hándbol

Dozens of friends and family have come this afternoon to the Javea Town Hall to receive and give a small tribute to María Cardona Morant, a neighbor of Xàbia, by proclaiming herself, together with the Valencian handball team Sub-17, champion of Spain.

By obtaining this title, the City Council wanted to pay tribute to this young neighbor from Xàbia who already has two titles under her belt as a handball player, a fact that both the mayor, José Chulvi like the sports councilor, Alberto Tur, have stood out in the words they have addressed to Cardona. And it is that María got, in the summer of 2018, together with her xabiero team, the national beach handball title in the cadet category.

Maria has received the congratulations of the whole town and a commemorative plaque, from the mayor, in memory of this act. Likewise, the xabiera has also delivered a signed shirt to the consistory.

Chulvi and Tur have highlighted the origin of their dedication to handball. A sport that started without more, when I was 10 years old, as an after-school activity, and that today, has brought more people together, creating a club and giving titles. Cardona has thanked her family for the support already Pep Hierro his dedication from the beginning and for teaching him this sport. María has transmitted that she always carries the name of Xàbia with pride wherever she plays, even if she is not in the Xabiero team.
