The little ones will learn to cook thanks to 'Mercatchef Junior'

Know the local product, learn to buy in the Municipal Market and have your first contact with the stoves. These are the objectives pursued by the new initiative of the Department of Economic Development of the Javea Town Hall: Mercatchef Junior.

From January 17, and on Saturdays, children of the municipality between 7 and 14 years can take practical cooking classes on site Mercat javiense to approach the culinary world.

Those interested in participating can register at the offices of the Local Development Agency and Creama (Avenida Trenc d'Alba number 2) or by calling 965794266. Classes, limited to a maximum of 20 people, will take place in the central part of the Mercat and will cost between 12 and 15 euros, depending on the price of the product. from the menu.

Tomas Franco, owner of renowned restaurants in Javea and surrounding areas, will be responsible to train young chefs, and the collaboration of the Association of Restaurateurs of Xàbia (ARX) and trade groups such as Historical Xàbia is also expected.

The class will begin with a tour of the market stalls to see gender, discover seasonal products and choose recipes that will star both starters as the main and dessert. They are simple menus that help children eat better, value the work that is behind each dish and the money needed to cook.

While at first workshops will be non-comxicotetive, more advanced students may participate later in a culinary comxicotetion.
