In the world of sports, with the start of Christmas, the popular races known as San Silvestre. A short-distance test (between 4 and 5 km) whose peculiarity is that the participants must go in disguise. Thus, runners choose to wear any outfit, although there are those who let themselves be carried away by imagination and originality.
On this occasion, the large group of athletes belonging to the Llebeig de Xàbia Athletics Club has been the absolute winner, for the best costume of the San Silvestres de la Marina Alta. Dressed as Christmas trees, and adapting the costume depending on whether it was a night or day race, the runners from Llebeig dazzled the jury from each of the municipalities.
And it is that, of the 9 races that were held in three weeks, they participated in 7 and in 6 of them they managed to get on the podium, remaining in the pipeline, the Crema-Torrons de Xaló, who came without disguise as it was not indicated in the bases.
'The 'little trees' of Llebeig Xàbia got, for best costume:
- 2nd place in the San Silvestre de Benissa (when coinciding with another group also from trees, two second prizes were awarded)
- 1st in the San Silvestre de Calp
- 1st in the San Silvestre de Moraira
- 1st in the San Silvestre de Ondara
- 1st in the San Silvestre de Dénia
- 2nd in the Roscón de Reyes Race- Marina de Denia and 3rd to the largest participating Club
And besides the prize, the best thing was that they enjoyed each of the races, the good atmosphere that exists in them and the laughter.
