Montgo reforestation is now a reality thanks to calendars

September 11 will remain etched in our memories as one of the most tragic days in recent years, environmentally speaking. That day we saw how the Montgo it burned mercilessly on one of the longest nights we remember.

Now, almost five months after that moment, hope has replaced anger and Montgó regrow again with the help of all residents.

Last December, the tourism department Javea Town Hall published a solidarity calendar of which almost 2.000 copies have been sold. With the money raised so far, it has been possible to finance the purchase of different plant species that are already being planted again in the areas of the viewpoint of Cap de Sant Antoni and in the valley of the Camí de la Cova Tallada.

It is holm oaks, junipers and marine negrales, labiérnagos, arbutus, carob and olive trees (wild olive), considered the noblest species of the Mediterranean mantle specimens specifically selected to achieve a clean and less risk of forest fires.

Reforestation work being carried out for four months through the Environmental Plan, for which it has contracted specialized company Serveis Medioambientals of the Marina Alta and has strengthened forest brigades engaged with the Employment Plan social municipality.
