Local Police Xàbia formed in subaquatic practices with the help of GEAS

January 13 from 2017 - 04: 52

Special (GEAS) Underwater Group of the Civil Guard runs a training course to the local police in Xàbia. The main objective of this seminar is to ensure good practice and safety dives and equip the local police of Xàbia of the knowledge to act in any accident involving diving.

The course was held at the request of the Department of Safety, which directs Pepa Gisbert, through the Comandancia de Alicante. At the same time, police officers, from the meritorious of the Xàbia barracks, as well as the service associated with the Dénia Court, attended.

And it is that, given the conditions of the Xàbia coastline, in the 25 kilometers of coast that mediate between the Marine Reserve of the Cap de Sant Antoni and the Barranca de la Branca to the south of the municipality, concentrates half of all the dives carried out by clubs and individuals in the province of Alicante. This means that every year there are some incidents that can become serious and put the lives of divers at risk.

The course taught by technicians GEAS included an important section dedicated to the pathophysiology of diving (drowning, decompression, poisoning, etc.) and another focused on prevention and intervention in case of accident. In this sense, the local police indicated that most incidents occur divers . in front of the greater security that the departures offer in monitored groups.

In addition to this course, the agents of Xàbia will receive new seminars highlighting the techniques of identification and detention that will be taught next week and that is also open to the rest of the police of the Marina Alta. As explained by the mayor of Public SafetyPepa Gisbert, "The intention is to intensify the training courses of the agents until Easter so that the summer campaign can be tackled in the best conditions."
