The most atypical Easter in Xàbia: how it was and how it is today

12 2020 April - 07: 48

An Easter Sunday without atmosphere in the Plaza de la Iglesia, Calle Mayor or the Playa del Arenal. Music, laughter, hugs and encounters are the customs of these dates that, as today, remain in everyone's memory.

The religious acts that comprise this holiday have also been affected by the coronavirus. Xàbia and all of Spain celebrate Easter and an atypical Easter Sunday. The gatherings of friends happen to be by videoconference and eating the monkey changes the scenery and the pastry chefs. Supermarkets and small bakeries have noted the sales volume of flour and yeast, as well as eggs. In these dates, even at home, tradition has not been lost and everyone has become a pastry chef making their own mona or homemade pancake.

About to complete a month of confinement, some of the places in Xàbia were, and so are.
