The Marina Alta will have a Commonwealth of Civil Protection Emergency Response

November 14 from 2019 - 18: 32

The Director General of Emergencies, José María Ángel Batalla, has been this afternoon at the Civil Protection facilities of Xàbia. There he has commented that after the fire of three years ago that arose between Xàbia and Benitatxell (fire of the granadella), they checked a link in the response of the different police templates and made a reflection for a coordination between the templates of Dénia, Xàbia, Ondara and Pego.

Ángel Batalla has stated in the visit that he will approve the approval of the Commonwealth Law in which it is said that the commonwealth could have competences in Civil Protection, since these entities are a Voluntary Association of Municipalities that is associated with dog collection, of garbage, high and low water and Civil Protection. Also, Ángel Batalla has indicated that after this approval, the idea is that "The first commonwealth that could have this answer would be the Marina Alta."

For its part, the mayor, José Chulvi, has committed to contact all affected mayors who already have a document signed from 2011 in which they commit to transmit capacities from one municipality to another. In this case, the head of Civil Protection of each municipality would be the mayor and the powers of the local police.

José María Ángel has stressed that this system, "In the Vega Baja it has worked. From the emergency center of Valencia they coordinated the different local police to feed on information on how the bed of the Segura River was, that information was valuable to give answers".

The Director General of Emergencies has also announced that they need to promote a civil protection law for the Valencian Community, "a law that coordinates the capacity that Civil Protection has in each town. It would be good to increase the training and the type of response to better train them and be qualified for this response."
