The Marina Alta will have a Commonwealth of Civil Protection Emergency Response

November 14 from 2019 - 18: 32

The Director General of Emergencies, José María Ángel Batalla, has been this afternoon at the Civil Protection facilities of Xàbia. There he commented that after the fire of three years ago between Xàbia and Benitatxell (fire of the Granadella), they verified a link in the response of the different police templates and made a reflection for a coordination between the templates of Dénia, Xàbia, Ondara and Pego.

Ángel Batalla has stated in the visit that he will approve the approval of the Commonwealth Law in which it is said that the commonwealth could have competences in Civil Protection, since these entities are a Voluntary Association of Municipalities that is associated with dog collection, of garbage, high and low water and Civil Protection. Also, Ángel Batalla has indicated that after this approval, the idea is that "la primera mancomunidad que podría tener esta respuesta sería la Marina Alta".

For his part, the mayor, José Chulvi, has pledged to contact all the affected mayors who already have a document signed from 2011 in which they commit to transmit capacities from one municipality to another. In this case, the head of Civil Protection of each municipality would be the mayor and the powers of the local police.

José María Ángel has stressed that this system, "en la Vega Baja ha funcionado. Desde el centro de emergencias de Valencia coordinaron a las diferentes policías locales para nutrirse de información de cómo estaba el lecho del río Segura, esa información fue valiosa para dar respuestas".

The Director General of Emergencies has also announced that they need to promote a civil protection law for the Valencian Community, "una ley que coordine la capacidad que tiene Protección Civil en cada pueblo. Sería bueno aumentar la formación y la tipología de respuesta para formarlos mejor y estén cualificados para esta respuesta".
