The Commander of the Balcony of the Sea Volunteers, Terry Curran, explained to this media how they work day by day. "As Xàbia is large and so widespread, we have the population divided into two parts, we, the almost 20 volunteers that we are, take care of monitoring the southern area: granadella, Ambolo, Cabo la Nao, La Guardia, Rafalet and Civil Protection of the north zone ", says Curran.

Terry adds that his work is simply to support the troops, "Between Police, Civil Protection and Volunteers of Balcón al Mar, we try to provide surveillance coverage to all areas of Xàbia so that, in the event of a fire or an accident being initiated for any reason, we can act quickly until the arrival of the professionals".

For the surveillance of the summer months, the Balcony of the Sea Volunteers are distributed in shifts, "Two people go with the pumper vehicle, for three hours, touring the different beaches and areas doing surveillance work and sometimes attending a tourist or swimmer at the foot of the beach", indicates the commander.

As Terry explains, surveillance work prevents major problems, "On some occasions we have observed the start of a fire in a container and have prevented it from going further, since many people are not aware and throw away the remains of barbecue, ashes, still lit in the containers or even worse in the same area green".
