28 March 2024 - 13: 54

More than 60 years of history. THEArxiu Municipal of Xàbia has received a donation from the personal audiovisual and photographic collection of the brothers Vicent and Pepe Molina Ivars, funds that are testimony to the life of Xàbia from the 60's to the present.

Specifically, there are 9963 photographs of daily life, festive, cultural and sporting events dating from 1970 to the present; 339 DVDs of festive and cultural events, from 1990 to 2019; and 45 tapes in super 8 format, with varied themes (Fogueres, Santa Llúcia festivals, Jesús Nazareno, bullfighting events, sporting events, skits, natural disasters, works in the municipality or the fires d'Artesania), from 1973 to 1989 .

Vicent and Pepe Molina Ivars are well known among the residents of Xàbia, their love of photography and video made them record all these events that will now be kept by the municipal archive. Everyone will remember his love of recording parties, initially in Super 8 format and over the years in different formats. Hence its extensive archive and its special care to preserve it, since the oldest photographs are in perfect condition.

La Councilor for Culture, Mavi Pérez, and the municipal archivist, Juanjo Mas, yesterday formalized the first part of the donation process of the Molina Ivars fund, which aims to guarantee the conservation and dissemination among
researchers and citizens in general.

«The Molina Ivars brothers have given us this fund to the Town hall And from here I want to thank you for this transfer, it is very important for all the people of Xàbia to be able to have all this graphic memory," the councilor stressed. Pérez also added that opening the boxes of photographs "is opening a large trunk of memories for many generations, it is uncovering a large part of our history and our roots."

Finally, the councilor also commented that now the "Arxiu faces the task of processing all the documents", an arduous job that will allow it to be accessible to everyone.

Please publish the photos and videos on the Arxiu website, there are quite a few of us who want to see them but we live outside the municipality and their opening hours to the public are almost impossible to fit so we can go, thank you
