The Living Chess from Xàbia reaches its twenty-third edition this year and the Comissió de Festes Mare de Deu de Loreto is working, for months, in the new edition of this event in order to offer a new representation of this scenic and cultural modality , pioneer in the municipality (carried out by volunteers) and characterized by its pedagogical, critical and original weight with the endorsement of the title of National Tourist Interest Party.
For the staging of 2019, the organization has prepared a casting in order to select the main roles that will play the relevant pieces and characters on the board and on which much of the narrative weight of this year will fall. Like the last edition, the staging of next July will keep its theatrical look delving into other artistic aspects of it.
For the most complex characters, young people from Xàbia between 13 and 18 are looking for years with taste and love for theater and interpretative qualities. The selection of the characters of this year will take place this Saturday 25 of May at 10 hours in the house of the Comissió de Festes de Loreto located in Severo Ochoa street of Aduanas del Mar.
To these will be added the rest of characters-pieces that are also essential in the narration and configuration of the board. In this case, children are sought after 8 years and their registration will be made in June.
One of the main characteristics of the Living Chess of Xàbia is its critical and reflexive character with the current society, literature, science and local culture. In the last edition, in 2018, with the work of Alice in Wonderland as background, the Living Chess made an energetic defense of personal and collective diversity and showed its harshness and its rejection towards social scourges as palpable as the harassment, depersonalization and abuse.
