May 14 from 2018 - 09: 22

Last Saturday, Pablo Ivars Soler finished the MTB European Championship with the Marathon test, on a route of 62 Km and 1350 meters of vertical drop. Pablo, who was still bothered by the blow he received last Thursday, finally crossed the finish line in the general 21 position.

During the first 20 Km, the Spanish team worked together holding the pace and the constant attacks of the runners in the front group to fight for the Top 15, but from the 24 kilometer, in a wooded and very dark technical area of abundant mud , Alexander, the current champion of Spain of MTB suffered a fall with a blow to the head when Pablo who was next to him stayed to assist him because due to the blow he suffered a dizziness. The other Spanish runner, Javier, who was ahead managed to stay in the front group while Pablo stayed with Alex until he recovered.

Pablo told us that, "I saw the fall of Alex and how it hit a tree against the helmet so I decided to be with my partner who for a moment was dizzy, encouraging him to get up quickly. The race was very long and the group in front had escaped, so we agreed to shoot together".

They managed to advance positions to the 15ª square when in the absence of 5Km to reach the finish line, Pablo crossed a branch between the gearshift and the wheel, having to stop to solve the fault since the gearshift failed where during that time lost several positions.

"I still had some discomfort in the leg, but I could stand it with that pace, it's a shame that I had to stop for a break just a few kilometers from the finish, I was not stopped for a long time but it was significant to lose positions until I finally got to the finish line. 21 position"The runner qualified.

Thinking about the Spanish Championship

The Xabiero closes a week of comxicotetion at the highest European level: "I want to thank the coach Marco Antonio Álvarez for trusting me and all those who have been supporting me during these days and of course, my coach Adrián Peris, who has managed to live up to the planning to compete against the best in Europe . Now it's time to enjoy the experience and rest, starting on Monday we return to training to focus on the Spanish Road Championship to be held in Burgos between the 26 and 27 de Mayo".
