Today is World Mental Health Day and Tapis Xàbia is participating in the global movement that seeks to make visible, raise awareness and mobilize society about these pathologies. In Xàbia, an information table has been installed in the market (in front of the Health Center) with messages to de-stigmatize and reinforce the policies of inclusion of the mentally ill, betting on values and diversity.
The Councilor for Health and Servicios Sociales, Rita Berruti, has been supporting the initiative and has recalled the means of response and care available to the municipality, such as the Tapis workshops, similar to a day center dependent on the Town hall in which users carry out activities aimed at their social integration, and the Mental Health team, attached to the Integrated Health Center.
World Mental Health Day this year focuses on suicide prevention a tragedy that every year adds 800 000 victims. In this sense, the regional association AMADEM, NGO for Mental Health of the Marina Alta has launched the campaign "Connect with life" with which he wants to make visible, naturalize the word suicide and, above all, prevent it through formalized action protocols.
