The Poble Nou de Benitatxell will rehabilitate the 'Capelletes' building for offices for administrative and tourist use

18 June 2020 - 19: 41

The building under construction and state of abandonment of Capelletes Street that the current government team acquired last December 2018 will finally be rehabilitated. Thanks to the program 'Reconstruïm Pobles' of the Generalitat, this building will be enabled for offices for administrative use and tourism.

The Poble Nou de Benitatxell is one of the 70 municipalities of the Valencian Community that has managed to enter 'Reconstruïm Pobles', an aid plan that will allocate 15 million euros to the rehabilitation or adaptation of municipal buildings, streets, squares or recreation and recreation areas. In total, more than 600 projects have been presented from more than 300 municipalities in the Community, and the adaptation of the Capelletes building, located at the entrance to the municipality from the Xàbia road, has been one of the chosen ones.

Currently, the municipal offices are scattered in various buildings, and the need to expand the space dedicated to municipal facilities has been evident for a few years ago. For this reason, at the end of 2018, this building was acquired with an eye toward the future, so that one day it could house the majority of offices.

The property has the structure and the enclosure of the brick facade already made, and inside the plants are open and without any type of installation. This project aims to complete the building and rehabilitate it to house these new uses. In addition, improvements will be made to accessibility and to making it an energy efficient building.

The idea is to design an open and multifunctional space in which the spaces can be modified according to the needs. Thus, the ground floor will be used for a new tourist office, and the upper floors to administrative departments made up of offices, meeting rooms, work areas, etc. Another possible use in the future is to move the public company there PobleNet.

During the year 2020 the project will be drafted with the description of the work to be carried out, and in 2021 it is intended to start the works already.

"The rehabilitation of this building means a great improvement for the municipality", has stated the councilor for Urban Planning, Jorge Pascual, and adds that “On the one hand, the construction of a semi-abandoned structure that gives an unsightly image is finished at one of the entrances to the municipality; and on the other, the need for new unified municipal offices is covered, the cost of which is much less than constructing a new building from scratch ”.
