The Grup de Danses del Portitxol prepares 'Les Danses del Corpus' with students from different schools

El Grup de Danses El Portitxol, with Isabel Martí at the helm, is preparing The Danses of Corpus, an event featuring students from the Tren d'Alba, Graüll and Vicente Tena to be held on Sunday June 3.

As indicated by Martí, "Since last Holy Week, we are going to schools to rehearse with children in 2nd and 4th year with the aim that all Xàbia schoolchildren know the traditional dances and their rituals". Isabel points out that the dances that the students will perform, "They are very old, they represent the farmers, weavers and the different trades of the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries."

This year a total of 150 girls and boys from the aforementioned schools will participate which will be organized by groups and each class will dance a different dance: Caballets, Dansa de la Magrana, Ball de Vetes, Panderetes, Les Poloneses and Bastons, Among others.

In addition, the Grup de Danses collaborates with the dance of Nanos and the Moma, which remembers the deadly sins. The tour starts on Sunday at 19 hours through the Historic Center. The dances are a prelude to the procession of the Corpus, performed by children who have taken the 1ª Communion and is scheduled to start from the 19: 30 hours.
