From May 8 to 13, the Skoda Titan Desert 2022 was held, six days of racing and 645 kilometers through the desert. Morocco has once again hosted this event, a perfect tandem that has been running since 2006, and was only interrupted in 2020 by COVID-19. Year in which the Titan Desert was held in the only European desert, the Tabernas desert, in Almería.
This year the Skoda Titan Desert Morocco has returned to recover its essence, its hallmark: the infinite desert. Place that the more than 500 cyclists who have been part of this adventure have traveled during these days of the race, many of them amateurs with great stories of overcoming and effort.
The Scott team BANDIDA COVE has participated in the Titan Desert with two of its bikers, Sergio Mantecón and Miquel Faus, professionals who have participated for the first time in a test of these characteristics and after some complicated first stages in which they suffered some setbacks, they knew how to overcome and apply everything learned during the early stages to improve. This effort and learning was rewarded in the 5th stage in which the team stood out from the rest and won with a double, Sergio Mantecón arriving in first position and Miquel Faus, behind him. The Cantabrian also set the best time in the ŠKODA Challenge section.
In the amateur category, the Cala Bandida Cycling Team, made up of David Ferrer, Víctor López, Lucas Gisbert, Stephan Fremeijer and Carlos Sánchez. The former tennis player has changed the clay for desert sand and has faced the most epic race in the world together with the rest of the team, crossing the finish line after six hard days of travel.
