The City Council of Xàbia incorporates 34 workers through the social employment plan

August 12 from 2020 - 13: 45

El Javea Town Hall today has incorporated 34 people hired through the social employment plan launched by the municipality as part of the economic and social reactivation measures after the COVID-19 crisis.

Mayor, José Chulvi, this morning welcomed the workers, selected according to social criteria from among the more than 350 applications received.

The staff will reinforce over the next few months the staff that are dedicated to forest and public road maintenance, cleaning tasks or performance of janitors in municipal buildings that now need to control access for health reasons.

The social employment program is included within the "Recuperem Xàbia" plan and has an economic endowment of 500.000 euros. It is one of the social measures promoted by the City Council as a result of the state of alarm and its effect on the economy. It is especially aimed at people who have been registered for a minimum of three to six uninterrupted months in the public employment service and are not receiving any benefit or subsidy.

Also within the post-Covid municipal actions, until August 21 (at 9 am) the deadline is still open for the autonomous and mutual members of the municipality to request direct economic aid of 1.500 euros offered by the City Council to those who saw their activity restricted by the State of Alarm decreed by the health crisis of COVID-19. Xàbia has initially endowed this item with 1 million euros from its own funds and has also planned another million and a half to expand it in case of need. It is therefore one of the highest amounts that have been budgeted for direct aid due to COVID-5 in the province of Alicante. Applications can be submitted electronically (an advanced electronic signature is required) through the website www.ajxabia.com.

In total, the response plan to COVID-19 mobilizes 6 million euros and includes tax measures (with suspension of rates such as occupancy on public roads or aid for water receipts) or the provision of 2'8 million euros to Servicios Sociales to meet requests for emergency aid and basic services.
