The xabienc David Ferrer replaces Albert Costa as director of Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell-Conde de Godó Trophy, as the tournament organization announced yesterday.
Ferrer, recently retired from the professional circuit, welcomed this appointment with surprise and joy. The direction of one of the tennis events of all those held in Spain is a great challenge for those who for so many years have been on the clay of the Real Club Tenis Barcelona.
David Ferrer has played 15 times this tournament that from now on he will lead, in four editions he managed to be a finalist, although he never won it. This tournament has managed to consolidate among one of the most important of the 500 ATP.
Jordi Cambra, president of the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona, was convinced that Ferrer "will know how to pick up Albert's witness and project it, if possible, towards a better tournament for the public, players and partners ".
