COVID-19: The First Montañar will be one-way, thus giving more pedestrian space

May 08 from 2020 - 14: 55

As of this afternoon, the restriction of traffic on Avenida del Mediterráneo (first Montañar) to a single lane. With this measure, the Javea Town Hall It aims to give more space to pedestrians and people who practice sport, and thereby facilitate that they can maintain the recommended social distance to stop the spread of COVID-19.

It will only be possible to move in the direction of the Port to Arenal, while the lane closest to the sea, which is the direction from Arenal to the Port, becomes pedestrian, thus doubling the space for walking. The connection by car between the Arenal area and the Port is still guaranteed by Avenues del Plá and Augusta.

With regard to the circulation of bicycles and scooters, they must continue to circulate along the specifically authorized lane, attached to the ride.

Pedestrianization will be applied gradually and for the moment, the restriction will only be on Friday afternoons and on weekends (Saturday and Sunday).

The idea of leaving a single lane -from the Port to Arenal- and making the other lane pedestrian, that is, from Arenal to the Port, seems totally absurd to me. What they have to do is fix the side strip to that "pedestrian" lane, which is a real disgust, and there, put a path to be able to walk quietly. Although I would like to know which pedestrians will use the current direction lane to the Port in the hottest months and without a single shadow. And I would also like to know how the urban bus will run from the Canal de la Fontana to the Port. Of course, the City Council will not answer anything, as always.

      Totally agree.
There already was a wide pedestrian path on one side and a cycle lane. Why on earth do they need more? Not everyone is sport mad. Where on earth are tourists going to park to get to the beach now? Badly thought out by Javea Town Council as usual.
This is a madness along with the restrictions along the Javea / Gata Road.

  2. Jose says:

You have to leave things as they were ... The idea of making circulation easier in the first Montañar is adequate, but not "imposed to stay."
Those of us who have been in Javea for life, would like them not to continue changing our town.

  3. Xavi says:

Very good. Now you have to leave the coastal strip free of cars and make an ecological path to walk along the sea.
