The new cultural programming of Xàbia that covers the first months of the year contemplates a wide offer. Within the concert section, the agenda is full of great proposals.

Casulana Quartet

The first concert will be January 29 in the Church of St. Bartholomew in charge of Casulana Quartet. The act will be at 21:00 p.m. and works by Shostakovich and Amy Beach will be performed.

Jazz Opus

Within the cultural programming of Xàbia and specifically in the musical field, there is one of its most consolidated cycles: Jazz to 100, which will begin its performances on 5 February with the project Jazz Opus, led by flutist Juana Guillem who arrives accompanied by her Jazz Trio made up of Pablo Igualada (piano), Pablo Múzquiz (double bass) and Rafa Gálvez (percussion).

The group is made up of Valencian musicians, all of them members of the National Orchestra of Spain and, therefore, great performers trained in classical music but who, in this concert, approach jazz with all the sensitivity and excellence of good professionals.

The concert will be at 21:XNUMX p.m. at the Professional Music Conservatory with free admission and free until full capacity.

Jeff Jerolamon: Jazz Experience

On Friday, February 18, there will be a new concert of the cycle Jazz to 100. The performance of the North American drummer, Jeff Jerolamon, will be at 20:XNUMX p.m. in the House of Culture. The renowned musician presents his latest project 'Jazz Experience', which he shares with double bass player Julio Fuster Joan Vicens and Jesús Núñez on saxophones. Admission to this show is priced at 5 euros.

On Friday, March 4, the concert of Pete Lala arrives in Xàbia, a musical trio formed by Marina Alcantud (piano and voice, as well as composer, lyricist and arranger of the band's songs) accompanied by Borja Flores on electric bass and Quique Ramírez on drums.

Berlin Philharmonic Quintet

Xàbia will be one of the stages of the 2022 Spanish tour that will be carried out by the Quintett Berlin, the string quintet of one of the most famous formations in the world, the Berlin Philharmonic. The formation will perform on Sunday Winners will be announced in March, at 17:00 p.m., and in the Church of San Bartolomé accompanied by the Valencian clarinetist Miquel Ángel Tamarit, a soloist of international prestige.

The Berlin Philharmonic String Quintet is a unique formation. Unlike other quintets, the basic quartet: two violins, viola and cello is joined by a double bass, and a voice that goes beyond the limits of music and approaches symphonic sonority. In this way, the Quintet represents the five string sections of the orchestra, becoming a formation with symphonic dimensions.

In 2007, they offered their first concert as a Quintet and today they have become one of the most requested groups in the most important concert halls and festivals in the world, especially in Europe and Japan.

At the Xàbia concert they will offer a repertoire with works by Félix Mendelssohn, WAMozart and Onën Dvorak. Tickets, which will cost 5 euros, will be on sale in advance from February 28 at the Casa de Cultura.

III Concert of Women Composers

The Xàbia Professional Conservatory promotes the II Concert of Women Composers, an initiative in coordination with the Department of Equality to make women visible in the field of composition.
The concert, which will be Sunday March 13 at 17 pm in the church of San Bartolomé, it will be dedicated to Valencian composers such as Sara Galiana and María José Belenguer Dolz.

This concert will be performed by the Wind Orchestra of the Conservatory and directed by its teacher, Pau Climent Montaner, who has chosen the repertoire and contacted the authors to attend both the recital and a colloquium that same day, at 12 noon, at the Conservatory itself.

In this meeting Galiana and Belenguer will talk about what it means to be a woman in the world of music and will delve into their work.

Nacho Mano and Gisela Renes

Nacho Mañó, who was one of the souls of the mythical group Presumed Involved, offers the Friday, March 18 a concert in Xàbia with the singer Gisela Renes, one of the most outstanding voices on the Spanish music scene.

Within the Jazz cycle to 100 They will present their project "Casa", an intimate work with compositions by both artists that fuse jazz with bossa nova or bolero.

The quartet's concert, completed by Ales Cesarini (double bass) and Mariano Steímberg (drums and percussion), will be at 20:5 p.m. at the Casa de Cultura and tickets, priced at XNUMX euros, can be purchased in this same place at throughout the afternoon.

Youth Orchestra and Youth Band of Xàbia

Among its components stand out the mezzo-soprano Francesca Sales and one of the less frequent voices; the sopranist Rafa Quirant, a countertenor singing in a soprano register, a very rare register for an adult man. The violinist Victor Yusà and Anna Pitarch on cello complete the project.

This performance will offer the program 'Sacred Sounds', a production based on religious music from the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries with works by Antonio Vivaldi, Antonio Caldara and Alessandro Scarlatti.

The term 'Sacred Music' refers to all music that has been conceived to be sung, played or performed in liturgical or religious contexts. The ticket will cost 5 euros and can be purchased at the entrance to the concert.

Quintet Azahar Ensemble

This group was awarded in 2011 at the 'ORPHEUS Swiss Chambert Music Comxicotetion'. In 2012 they won the 2nd prize at the 'El Primer Palau' Music Comxicotetion (Barcelona) and in 2014, the 2nd prize (first desert) and the audience award at the 63rd International ARD Comxicotetion in Munich. At this moment Azahar Ensemble begins its international career.
