Benitatxell lived two great days in which the best 'amateur pilot' in the Region made the fans vibrate

10 July 2018 - 06: 56

The main street of Poble Nou de Benitatxell hosted some relevant endings corresponding to the XXXIV Liga de Llargues Trofeo Diputación de Alicante. The Federació de Pilota Valenciana opted once again for the municipality poblero for its great tradition and love of pilota.

In the first category, the CPV Benidorm was proclaimed champion when defeating the players of CPV El Campello, by a result of 10 to 6. In this way, they revalidate the title they won last year for the first time and consolidate themselves as the top dominators of the modality.

Orba defeated Benidorm in the final of Palma

The second highlight of the day was the final of the first category of Palma between Orba and Benidorm. It was played at 16 hours, and despite the suffocating heat, attracted a large number of followers from all parts of the regions of Alicante. Equal to 5 games, those of Orba put the direct one and they went quickly towards the victory obtaining an 10 against 5. After 26 editions of this league, Orba has won the title for the first time.

The fact that Àpunt Media relayed it live a street game was already a historic milestone. Both the Department of Sports and the local Pilota Club turned to the organization and media coverage of this event, without precedent, was a success.

CPV Benitatxell, runners-up of third of llargues

The local pilots faced those of Murla in the finals of the third category of llargues. The reaction of the locals when it seemed that Murla dominated the game embittered the fight. It was an exciting and hard-fought match that kept both the public and the players in tension. Although the victory was finally for Murla by 10 to 7, the local club gave some brilliant plays.

The exciting games were attended and the awards were presented by the Sports Deputy of Alicante, Juan José Castelló, accompanied by the mayor of Poble Nou de Benitatxell, Josep Femenia, the sports councilor, Manolo Segarra, and the coordinator of Pelota de la Generalitat, Sebastià Giner, together with the vice president of the FPV, Vicent Molines and the sports councilor of Benidorm, Arturo Cabrillo.
