Benitatxell prepares its festivities in honor of Santa María Magdalena. It does so in the most unusual way in its history due to the pandemic. There will be no festeros or festivities, or parades, but there will be an agenda of cultural events and activities designed for the little ones.
The program will start on Friday, July 16 with a traditional dance workshop by the Grup de Danses Morro Falquí, at 19:00 p.m., in the Plaza de la Iglesia. That weekend there will also be a puppet theater on Saturday the 17th at 11:00 in the Plaza de la Iglesia and the presentation of the documentary 'Les nostres mares', with women from Pobleras as protagonists, on Sunday the 18th, in the plaza de les Pesqueres, at 22:30 p.m.
The Grup de Danses will open the central week of festivities with an Exhibition of traditional dances on Wednesday 21, at 20:00 p.m., in the Plaza de la Iglesia. And at 23:00 p.m. the tribute concert to Michael Jackson will take place in the Plaza de les Pesqueres.
The musical performances with seats and capacity control will be this year one of the most significant formats of the programming. The Xavi Sarrià concert stands out on Friday 23 at 23:30 pm; the musical Top Talent on Thursday 22 at 23:30 pm; the pop rock tribute No Comment on Saturday 24 at 23:30 pm or the Colla La Llebetjà concert on Friday 23 at 20:00 pm. All the performances will take place in Plaça de les Pesqueres.
There will also be street music by the Santa María Magdalena Municipal Music Group on Thursday, July 22 at 20:00 p.m. in different parts of the town. And on Friday 23rd, at 12:30 pm in La Pau street, the performance Música a la vi stands out, which will consist of a musical tasting of popular songs that have accompanied the culture of wine and a wine tasting. The musical accompaniment will be in charge of Carles Belda, and the wine sample, in charge of the Biomoscatell association.
Children's activities also have a great weight. The boys and girls of the municipality will be the main protagonists on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25. Saturday there will be traditional and skill games from 10:00 to 13:00 in La Pau street; 'carretons' at 11:00 in the streets La Pau and Mayor; Paintball from 17:00 p.m. to 21:00 p.m. at the CEIP Santa María Magdalena Sports Center, and the children's concert by Dàmaris Gelabert at 20:00 p.m. in Plaça de les Pesqueres. On Sunday there will be inflatables at 10:00 am on La Pau street; ball workshop and ball game for children with professional players at 17:00 p.m. on Calle Mayor, and the star activity: the Scape Room Bus 'Correterres', which will be on Mercado street from 9:00 a.m. to 14:00 p.m. and from 15:00 p.m. to 20:00 p.m. There will also be a Globology show and XXL soap bubble workshop on Friday 23 at 19:00 p.m. on La Pau street.
Regarding religious acts, there will be four masses: in honor of Santa María Magdalena (Thursday 22), in honor of San Roque (Friday 23), in honor of San Cristóbal (Saturday 24) and in honor of San Jaime (Sunday 25 ). All of them will be at 12: 00h and will be sung by the Parish Choir.
The pobleros and pobleras will vibrate with gunpowder on Thursday 22 at 22:00 p.m., Patron Saint's Day Santa María Magdalena, with a fireworks show fired from three different places in the town, and on Sunday 25, at 22:00 p.m. , with a bouquet of fireworks at the end of the party. The culmination of the festivities will be Eugeni Alemany with the monologue 'In person guanye', which will take place at 23:30 p.m. in Plaça de les Pesqueres.
