Amjasa dismisses the year with positive figures and the intention to create a Citizen Water Observatory

19 December 2014 - 12: 52

Amjasa yesterday held an extraordinary general meeting to report on the year's management report. Once again, it seems that the figures for the municipal water company are positive. Amjasa estimates that it will close the year with profits of 1,5 million euros.

To this remarkable amount must be added the 700.000 euros for amortizations that raise the budget agreed for next year to 2,2 million euros. As explained by the Mayor of Jávea, José Chulvi, the water does not only work to generate a surplus, but to obtain a benefit that can then revert on itself in order to improve its network and its infrastructure. This fact allows the revaluation of the company and that, for example, in recent years the value of Amjasa's assets has gone from 13.5 million euros to 17,5 million. That is, the company has increased its value by four million.

The company also points out as symptoms of this positive evolution the rationalization of spending for the purchase of energy or the costs of the board of directors. Chulvi has remarked that Amjasa also has a social aspect in tune with the department of Social services for the cases of neighbors who suffer economic difficulties and require consideration in the energy aspect.

Yesterday's meeting also authorized the modification of the bylaws for Amjasa to become a Sole-Shareholder Company. Also the change of CEOs that was announced a month ago by the representative of the PSOE, Paco Torres, is replaced by María Rosa Miñana. Nueva Jávea also makes changes to take the place of Simon Montilla, the mayor Belén Quiroga

CEO, Josep Lluis Henarejos, has proposed the creation of a new municipal body of citizen participation in the 2015: A Water Observatory. The idea is to create an advisory council made up of representatives of the Corporation, neighborhood associations, consumer groups, professional guild, the agricultural and educational sector in order to seek collaboration and citizen possesses some control over the municipal water company .

Being a public company did not have to make a profit, I had to charge less for the services.

¿AMJASA excessive lowering the price of water in the town will consider, once as improvement?
