From the town hall of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell wants to collaborate as much as possible in the prevention of school absenteeism, for this reason its mayor, Josep Femenia, and the council of Servicios Sociales, Jacinta Pastor, have signed an agreement with the director of the Teulada IES, José Álvarez Cobelas.
One of the important points of this agreement is the commitment by the municipality to track truancy, through the Department of Social Services, so that, from the information of the tutors, a protocol is applied .
The city council is committed to the students who present disciplinary problems are derived to the personal supervision of the Department of Social Services, which recently has been incorporated a psychologist.
Conversely, the Department of Social Services may advise and provide information to the institute on all aspects that affect the reality of the student body. Such as prevention of drug addiction and other additive behaviors, the development of social skills as well as sexual information. All this within school hours and in agreement with the school's management.
In addition, the Department of Culture and Education will also collaborate in the preparation of all cultural and extracurricular activities that they consider necessary for the students. For example, Public library will make available to students the copies of the readings proposed at the Institute and at each level so that they can use them for free. Another of the areas involved is the Department of Public Safety, which will be able to teach road safety courses.
Finally, this agreement provides that the council will work with school exchange programs in local students and European Institutes. Whenever possible exchanges with institutes of twinned towns with the municipality will be prioritized.
