The municipal corporation of Xàbia voted, unanimously, in the ordinary plenary session, in favor of requesting the Valencian Generalitat to award the Police Merit Cross with a blue badge to the Chief Intendant of the Local Police of Xàbia, José Antonio Monfort for its impeccable management, before, during and after the affection of the storm 'Gloria' in the town.
As stated in the Consell Decree, which regulates the distinctions and decorations granted by the Generalitat to the members of the Local Police Corps of the Valencian Community, the Police Merit Cross with a blue badge from the Generalitat will be granted when one of the following circumstances occurs:
- Direct or successfully execute a service in which, due to its extraordinary difficulty or importance, relevant professional or civic qualities have been demonstrated.
- To stand out with notoriety and perseverance in the fulfillment of the duties of his office, which constitutes exemplary conduct.
- The prolonged work in time for the dignity, prestige, and public recognition of the Local Police, as well as their mission of defense, promotion and protection of public rights and freedoms.
- Carry out relevant professional or scientific studies that give prestige to the Institution to which it belongs.
