El Javea Town Hall today supported a rally condemning sexist violence and observed a minute of silence for all its victims on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Sexist Violence, November 25.
In the celebration of the institutional act, the Councilor for Equality, Montse Villaverde, has read a manifesto in which the commitment of the municipality in the protection of women and in eradicating all kinds of violence is recalled. The mayor has put on the table the chilling figures that this scourge leaves: those of murdered women, children who are orphaned and mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters and friends who lose a loved one.
Villaverde has made it clear that gender violence "It has no place in the society that we aspire to be, nor in the democracy that we want to consolidate" so remove it from our lives and protect the victims "It is not an option, it is an obligation."
This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event did not have the participation of students from schools or secondary schools.
