Xàbia prepares for the forecast of torrential rains

Xàbia and the Marina Alta are on alert, from midnight on Thursday and during the morning of Friday, due to meteorological risk as reported by the Emergency Coordination Center. The risk forecast is orange for rains and yellow for storms and coastal phenomena. According to the State Meteorological Agency, up to 40 liters per square meter could be registered in an hour in our region.

Given this forecast, the Javea Town Hall It has activated all the usual preventive measures, especially in the most flood-prone areas, cleaning scuppers in flood-prone areas and checking the recently cleaned Arenal storm drain.

Also, during the afternoon of Thursday, the mayor, José Chulvi, as well as the Councilor for Citizen Security and Emergency Prevention, Juan Ortolá, held a coordination meeting with the heads of the Local Police, Civil Guard, Civil Protection and Red Cross to specify the available means of response and prepare the municipal response to a hypothetical episode of torrential rains.

As reported by municipal sources, all the bodies are on pre-alert and with teams ready to mobilize in case of need. Also the municipal department of works and services has personnel on duty in case it is necessary to collaborate in the placement of fences or signaling.
