Xàbia has held, this week, the first meeting to mark the line to follow before the drafting of the Local Plan for the Prevention of Forest Fires promoted by the Town hall. This first contact was attended by different groups that are in contact with the forest (hiking, hunting, mountain biking or athletics clubs), in addition to the security forces, fire-fighting volunteers and municipal departments involved.
The first decision taken is to inform the neighbors, especially those who live in areas integrated in agroforestry land, which must be aware that they live with a real risk of fire and that they must be well prepared to face it.
For this, the Local Police, in coordination with the technical team of Medi XXI, is preparing an information campaign to get, through a guide, self-protection advice to neighborhood communities, urbanizations and also to tourists who rent houses in Summer, just the time of most risk. Likewise, some questionnaires are also being prepared so that the interested parties can easily assess the level of protection of their homes in the face of a hypothetical fire and so they know what measures to apply.
This material will be distributed, soon, by tourist rental agencies and a schedule of talks with the urbanizations will be scheduled.
The engineers who are drafting the plan insisted on the need for a "Shared responsibility" between administration and citizens.

The environmental consulting company explained that, for the time being, it is working on the data collection phase in order to design the most appropriate actions to reduce the risk of fire, its danger to people and offer professionals more opportunities to turn them off
