Faced with this news, the Xàbia Historical Association dismisses as "irresponsible" that the festival was announced since spring and did not have a budget. "Restaurants and bars had reservations for those days," they indicate from the business group.
Since Xàbia Histórica has been aware of the cancellation of Xàbia Jazz in its 2023 edition scheduled for August 5, 6 and 7, it has maintained contacts with the Councilor for Culture, Mavi Pérez and mayor of Economic Development, juanlu cardona, with the intention of finding some kind of solution among all so that Xàbia would not be left without a jazz festival for the first time in the last twenty-two years (with the exception of 2020 due to the pandemic).

The merchants call the suspension of Xàbia Jazz a disaster, which has always been a focus of attraction for visitors -the quality tourism that we all like to claim so much- who in those days knew the shops with their walks before the concerts. Not being able to celebrate the festival hurts the Xàbia brand.
Likewise, merchants and businessmen from the Historic Center criticize that the Xàbia Jazz celebration was announced in spring, even on mupis installed by the municipality and with the distribution of flyers in which it appears programmed and that are still available in municipal spaces, despite not have budget allocation. Programming without having a budget is an irresponsible act.

In addition, from Xàbia Histórica they regret that Xàbia Jazz is not the only cultural event canceled due to lack of budget. The exhibition on Sorolla scheduled at the Mvsev Soler Blasco from July to September, which was to be an attraction for the Historic Center this summer, will not be held on the announced dates either.
