Xàbia honors gymnasts and dancers for their national and world triumphs

Recognition of effort and dedication. This was the gratitude that the Javea Town Hall to the winning gymnasts of the National Championship Club Deportivo Montgó and the dancers of the Dance School Footworks in the World Championship.

Getting to the top means dedicating hours and hours; Therefore, the success obtained by the young people of Xàbia was the reason for holding a public event in the Town Hall assembly hall in which the protagonists, accompanied by family and friends, collected a special prize.

And the young gymnasts won eight medals (three gold, three bronze and two silver) in the National Artistic Gymnastics Championship. Specifically, those honored were Adrián Larrosa who was proclaimed champion of Spain on beam and won the bronze medal in the vault category. Joan Buigues also won gold in colt and was runner-up in Spain in the general classification. Eloy Jong won the bronze on beam and floor and Javi Soler the silver medal on beam. Likewise, the team formed by Jong, Soler, Buigues and Hugo Martín finished at the top of the podium as national champions.

In women, Estrella Gámez and Lola Mathews also climbed onto the National podium, with Gámez winning the title of Spanish floor and balance beam champion, while Lola won bronze on vault.

Footworks

The recognition ceremony was also dedicated to the Foot Works Dance School. The team made up of the 10 dancers and the male dancer managed to place third, worldwide, in the Global Dance Open. The group represented Spain in this international comxicotetion in which 25 countries competed and where the dancers from Xàbia managed to get on the podium.

Melissa Duley, Ana Robles, Luna Zubizarreta, Chloé Jenkins, Sensi Scanlan, Lexi Gould, Lily-Bleu Crocetti, Camila Pelayo, Laila Shaw, Celina Zimmermann and Robert Peel were awarded by the Xàbia City Council for their triumph and of course, for their long hours of rehearsal and dedication to achieve being the best.

"You have reached the top"

At the tribute ceremony, the Sports Councilor, Toni Molina, highlighted that "our young people have reached the top. These successes are the result of your discipline and work. Molina also made reference to families; "You are the daily support of your children, and they are now the role model for youth." The sports councilor clarified that they must continue fighting for their dreams.

For her part, the mayor of Xàbia, Rosa Cardona, pointed out that "it is a pride that you have taken the name of Xàbia so far. "Both entities deserve these awards for their great dedication."

All the winners received a commemorative trophy from the City Council from the mayor and the Sports Councilor. The detail was also delivered to Camilo Cáceres, coach of CD Montgó and Elena Buigues, president of the Club, as well as choreographer Elena Gwyn-Jones from Footworks.
