A new gastronomic award comes to Xàbia. This time it has an Italian flavor and it is one of the best spicy pizzas in the world. The pizza, made in the couple category by Alessandro Damiano and Daniele Conte, achieved second place, thus proclaiming themselves runners-up in the world.
Damiano, from the pizza factory from Xàbia, achieved victory, together with Conte, a pizza chef from Valencia, after participating in the 22nd edition of the Spicy Pizza World Championship that took place in Calabria (Scalea, Italy) a few days ago. The fact that it was celebrated in this city and not another is due to the fact that the Italian region of Calabria is known for being the land of spicy Pepperoncino, a key ingredient in this gastronomic sector.
And therefore, these two pizza makers, passionate about spicy pizza, created the second best in the world with cherry tomato, mushrooms, León chorizo, Manchego cheese and a touch of olive powder, "a perfect combination of bold flavors," they point out. the chefs.
It should be noted that this establishment in Xàbia, in which one of its chefs is the protagonist of this award, has already added other awards such as best gourmet pizza in Spain.
But this second place award in the world for spicy pizza did not come only to Spain, but as a Spanish team, a group to which Alessandro and Daniele belong, obtained more than 10 awards in different categories among the more than 400 high-level participants, from 12 countries.
Of the more than 10 awards won in this World Comxicotetion, it is worth highlighting the successes of the Spanish Pizzaiolis team, such as the achievement of Francis Tolu, a Valencian pizza chef who has achieved the title of World Champion in the Freestyle category. He has also achieved second place in the Fast Pizza category. Tolu this year has also won the “Campiona del Mondo della Pizza: Pizza Senza Frontiere 2023”, and the Pizza World Championship in Parma.
