15 2023 April - 06: 21

Everyone knows that Xàbia is one of the popular tourist destinations chosen not only by foreigners in search of sun and sand, but also by national tourists. Xàbia usually becomes the ideal destination to enjoy a long vacation or a getaway to be in contact with nature or culture.

The inhabitants of big cities travel to the coast or to small towns to disconnect. Xàbia usually has about 30.000 inhabitants, but in holiday seasons, its population increases considerably, reaching four times the figure, exceeding 200.000 inhabitants. Likewise, Xàbia is chosen by many of the Spanish as a second residence destination; But in reality, where do the national tourists who visit the town come from?

According to the data provided by the Mobility Study with Bigdata prepared by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, we can know, according to the position of mobile phones, where citizens have moved in a specific period.

Although the data from these past Easter holidays is not yet available, we can find out, according to the newspaper EL PAÍS, which Autonomous Community visited us the most during Easter 2022.

Where do Spanish tourists come from?

The largest number of travelers received by the town of Xabiera were from the Valencian Community with a total of more than 4.000 people. Specifically, from Valencia city there were 218 travelers out of 10.000, that is, 3.487 tourists. To this data is added those originating from Alicante, which were 38 out of 10.000, which would be 144 people, more than 60 from Elche and more than thirty from Castellón. To these figures we must add the tourists who live in towns outside the big cities who also traveled to our town.

Second is found Madrid. Specifically, there were more than 3.000 people who left the Spanish capital and the largest surrounding towns with destination Xàbia. The report details that 32 out of every 10.000 travelers left Madrid city for our town, which means 2.967 people, to this figure must be added those originating from Móstoles, Fuenlabrada, Getafe, Leganés, Alcorcón and Álcala de Henares, which are six of the Madrid towns with the highest number of mobility registered up to Xàbia.

To a lesser extent, but no less important, Xàbia received a large number of tourists also from Barcelona, Zaragoza and Bilbao.

With these official data from the Ministry we can confirm that Xàbia receives visitors from all over the world, the majority being from Spain and, of course, from other European countries.

And it is that, according to municipal data, in 2019 73% of the tourists who visited the town were Spanish, while the remaining 27% came from other countries. Among foreign tourists, the most numerous were those from the United Kingdom, followed by Germans, Dutch and Belgians.

It should be noted that national tourism in Xàbia is characterized by being mostly family and middle-aged, with an average stay of approximately one week and is usually concentrated in the summer months or holiday periods, especially at Easter, July and August, while European tourism extends throughout the year, with a greater influx in spring and autumn.

200.000 thousand inhabitants for a Jávea with infrastructures that do not support so many people.
But hey, the lighthouse is more important than creating more parking lots.
The swimming pool is more important than the proper sanitation network.
You have to do more important and useful things so that Jávea does not collapse due to the overcrowding that it suffers every year in summer.
Once I proposed to enable the site on Avenida Tamarits that belongs to the City Council for parking, since the circus was used once, but they do not listen to reasons.
I also proposed a bank lot on Calle Atenas to enable it as provisional emergency parking for those chaotic months but the City Council has sawdust on its head and they are from no is no.
You have to think more about the neighbors and give solutions to the arrival of tourists since Jávea becomes small with terrible infrastructures.

I don't know about me, but if we quadrupled 30, if Pythagoras isn't lying, it would be 000, right?

    Hard to believe !
    Everywhere you hear French spoken!
