The General Directorate of Fisheries has ordered the prohibition of fishing, holding on board and landing specimens of bluefin tuna for sport and recreational fishing. This has been published by the Official State Gazette following the Order XM / 264 2017 of March, regulating the bluefin tuna fishery in the Eastern Atlantic and Mediterranean, corrected by Order APM / 23 / 298 , The Resolution of the General Secretariat for Fisheries, laying down the implementing provisions for the Bluefin Tuna Plan in the Eastern Atlantic and the Mediterranean Sea which reserves a quota of bluefin tuna for sport and recreational fishing for the fishing season 217.
According to the data available to the General Secretariat of Fisheries, the quota allocated for sport and recreational fishing has already been reached, and it is therefore appropriate to report the definitive closure of the 2017 season of this fishery. Also, this prohibition comes into effect as of 00: 00 hours of the day following the publication of this resolution in the Official State Gazette, which was 25 on August 2017 yesterday.
