Health advances the vaccination appointment of the youngest groups

August 09 from 2021 - 14: 16

The Department of Universal Health and Public Health has advanced this week the appointment to people from the 12 to 19 age group by receiving a total of 196.390 extra doses of vaccines against COVID-19 from the Pfizer laboratory that correspond to the extraordinary purchase of vaccines made by the Ministry of Health.

It should be noted that the vaccination of these groups, initially scheduled for the end of August, has accelerated thanks to the early reception of these vaccines.

In this way, part of these deliveries of extraordinary doses compensates the Valencian Community for the deficit in doses distributed at the beginning of the vaccination process, because at the beginning the autonomous communities with the largest number of elderly population were prioritized.

This figure is in addition to the 177.000 doses already planned for this week, in which a total of 378.382 doses of the vaccine are expected to be administered and the majority will be for people between 39 and 16 years old.

Almost 500.000 vaccines will be inoculated this week

The bulk of this week's vaccines, a total of 309.423 doses, is from the Pfizer laboratory. Most of them (specifically, 225.054 doses) will be used for people in the age group between 39 and 16 years old.

The rest of the Pfizer vials (84.369 doses) will be used for those who could not be vaccinated in their day due to an active infection, for new admissions to social and sanitary residences, professionals who join the health system this summer, as well as for second doses (about all of the age group 49 to 30 years), for the repechage of people who are pending immunization despite belonging to cohorts already closed and for those who have health conditions considered high risk.

On the other hand, 63.974 doses of Moderna's vaccine will be inoculated, almost all of them in people between 49 and 16 years of age. A residual amount will be for professionals who join the health system, people with high-risk conditions, repechages and second doses from 49 to 30 years.

With the 4.470 doses of AstraZeneca this week, people over 60 years of age who have the second dose pending will continue to be vaccinated.

Finally, from Janssen, 515 single doses will be inoculated to people from closed cohorts and those who must make international trips.

"We are very close to reaching the milestone of group immunity and we would not have been able to get here without working as a team," says the Minister for Universal Health and Public Health, Ana Barceló.
