Quico Moragues: «Xàbia Negra is a consolidated festival»

November 08 from 2017 - 14: 42

After the 2nd edition of Xàbia Negra, the councilor for culture, Quico Moragues, has said that from his apartment and from tourism, "Xàbia Negra is a deep-rooted festival and we are very happy. Many festivals of this genre are the envy since this festival is only made in Valencia, Barcelona and Gijón and we are proud to be able to do it in Xàbia." The mayor has highlighted the fact that Toni Hill and Vicente Garrido began reading his new novel.

The mayor has highlighted the involvement of students with a contest of stories in Valencian and Spanish "making this genre known ". Moragues has mentioned the collaboration of the xabiero Vicent Miralles "that has helped a lot in the festival".

Miralles himself has stressed that the three genres: stories, shorts and photography have worked better than last year. The first year 20 photographs were received and this year 250, "Also in this edition there has been a leap in quality bringing writers such as Ferrán Torrent, Bernardo Carrión and the classic authors of the first edition"commented Vicent.

Likewise, the festival also highlights the increase in the number of people who participated in the round tables, "This year all have been filled and the shorts have been of great quality", explained Moragues and Miralles.

The councilman of Culture has indicated that the participants have been first class "What has made many authors want to come to Xàbia. In addition, we have the presence of the Minister of Finance, Vicent Soler, who participated in two round tables and commented that what he valued most about the festival was to show the liveliest Xàbia, Xàbia apart from sun and beach, it has a cultural offer that surely corresponds to larger cities. "

One of the novelties of the festival is the twinning with the festival Bloody Scotland, "We edit their image on our posters and on Scottish posters they put the image of Xàbia Negra in their advertising and press campaigns", said the mayor. Another novelty is that this year art has also been introduced at the festival. Anna Moner and Sebastián Carratalá inaugurated the exhibition of Soler Blasco Museum, as well as the exhibition of photographs in the Mercat which has 50 images and will be open until the end of the month.

Within the round tables stand out the inaugural one that took place in The Trasper in which were the authors Vicente Garrido, Nieves Abarca and Toni Hill, and the one made by Ferrán Torrent in the Duplex.

In this edition, bookstores were also involved and sales increased as indicated by Culture. "the Municipal Market was integrated into the festival, the book fair and the two bars were installed, Paraeta and Mercat, they offered black lunch with affordable price ", has explained the mayor of Culture.

Both Moragues and Miralles have highlighted the collaboration of the Associations Historical Xàbia y Xàbia Port In making a festival out of season, Xàbia is energized when there are fewer people, "and it is that a group of people who already came in the first edition have repeated in this one and that means that they spend a weekend in our locality", said the mayor and the author.

The closing of the festival was held at the Hayan cinema, with a dedicated audience, with the theater group's work GARUM and her teacher Inma Sancho. Finally, from the department of culture want to thank the Riu-Rau Film School their work in viewing all the shorts, the Photographic Association of Xàbia that were disguised and the involvement of the two institutes.

The closing Xàbia Negra 2017 was awarded the honorary prize to the writer Federico Ibáñez who died this summer in Xàbia.
