What requirements must be met to travel to Spain this summer?

Many are the tourists who are looking forward to the summer months to travel Spain. The good weather makes our country one of those chosen by travelers, but how the COVID-19 situation affects this year when traveling.

Last year, the high data on infections and the strict measures when returning to their country made many choose to cancel their vacations, but how is the summer of this 2021 presented?

Spain is ready to receive tourists who are vaccinated or meet certain health requirements. Until today, June 1, the entry of people vaccinated against COVID-19 from countries with low infection rates is allowed.

COVID Digital Certificate

The COVID Digital Certificate is one of the requirements for mobility, this summer season, between the countries of the European Union, including Spain. This certificate, totally free, will be issued by each Autonomous Community and will provide all the information on whether the person traveling is vaccinated, has had the disease or has a negative PCR result.

But what about the travelers from non-EU countries? As of June 7, as indicated by Moncloa, "tourists from all countries with which there is not full freedom of movement, including the United States at the moment, will be able to enter Spain, provided they have a certificate of having received the complete regimen of a vaccine authorized by the European Medicines Agency or the World Health Organization ".

As for tourists from safe non-EU countries, they will not have to face health checks upon arrival in Spain. However, travelers from safe European territories (green color on the ECDC traffic light) will not have to meet health entry requirements.

PCR and / or ECDC traffic light quarantine, may enter Spain with a PCR at origin or, as of June 7, with the complete schedule of vaccines authorized by the EMA or the WHO, indicates the Moncloa website.

Likewise, on the website of the Ministry of Health it is stated that from May 1, 2021, people whose country of departure to Spain is the Republic of India, with or without intermediate stopovers, must remain in quarantine for the following 10 days. upon arrival in Spain or throughout your stay if it is less than that period. This period may end earlier, if on the seventh day the person undergoes a diagnostic test for acute infection with a negative result.

In turn, for entry to Spain, passengers from any country or risk zone may be requested, at any time, to accredit the negative result of the Active Infection Diagnostic Test for SARS-CoV-2 ( PCR) carried out within 72 hours prior to their arrival in Spain, and they may undergo a new Active Infection Diagnostic Test upon arrival.

This certificate or supporting document must be the original and be written in Spanish, English, French or German and may be presented in paper or electronic format. The document will contain, at least, the following information: name of the traveler, passport or ID number, date of the test, identification and contact information of the center that performs the analysis, technique used and negative test result. The personal identification number (passport / DNI) that you use to carry out the QR must be the same that appears on the negative PCR / TMA certificate.

In the case of traveling by sea, this form will be delivered, on paper, by the shipping company during the trip or upon arrival at the port of destination in Spain. At the moment there is no obligation to present this form when traveling to Spain by land.

    The information is not correct at all.
    To enter Spain the requirements differ if one arrives from the European community or not, also from a risk zone or not.
    An example, for the moment if you arrive from Germany, just present a rapid antigen test, not PCR.
