The number eight in the science magazine "Daualdeu"It was presented in a ceremony that was attended by mayors and councilors of the region, in the Sanitarium Fontilles.
The act began with the intervention of the President of "l'Associació Meridià Zero"Josep Lluís Domenech, who noted that the purpose of the magazine was to improve scientific knowledge of the population, face problems such as depletion of fosisles fuels.
Pep Martinez, professor of IES. Antoni Llidó of Jávea, described the contents of this issue of the magazine. The central theme is the Sanitarium Fontilles, scientific and philanthropic work against leprosy.
In six articles by different authors develop in detail the need for the project, history, scientific and research work, the philanthropic project and architecture of buildings.
José Ramón Gómez, medical director of the sanatorium since 30 years ago, toured the history of the sanatorium and scientific work began in 1901 and 1909 culminated in the arrival of the first patients to hospital.
Gómez explained how was the life of patients, the cause and effects of the disease and drugs to combat it. He insisted in his speech on the need for the Valencian society not to lose the historical memory of the sanatorium.
Dr. Gomez then, he guided visitors through the most significant facilities. In the laboratory, the head of the last 38 years of that facility, the pharmacist, Pedro Torres said there analyzes are performed to detect the disease.
The day ended with a fellowship meal in the sale of Collao. From L` Associació Zero Meridià willingness and generosity of all staff Sanatorium Fontilles in celebration of the event it was appreciated.
