The Local Police of Xàbia are awarded for their commitment to the welfare of the animals

January 14 from 2019 - 11: 56

The Network for Animal Protection (REPA) has rewarded the work in defense of the animals carried out by the Special Commitments Unit (UCE) of the Local Police of Xàbia with the awards for initiatives and good practices in the protection of animals, both for the work done with relevant actions and for the means used both on land and at sea.

Next Saturday, January 19, the Councilor for Citizen Security, Pepa Gisbert, and the chief steward, José Antonio Monfort, will travel to Madrid to collect the award.

The Unit of Special Commits of the Local Police of Xàbia is a group of four agents whose function, among others, is the protection of the environment, both terrestrial and marine. To do this they patrol the forest area and along the coast with the use of a boat.

As a sign of the commitment they have with the welfare of animals, both wild and domestic, the UCE has participated and supported numerous rescues since its launch in 2016: from sea turtles trapped in nets to injured birds such as a cormorant, a booted eagle, owls, hawks or a dog that fell into a cistern in flat, among others.
