Why do we think what we think? We live subjected to a constant avalanche of information, data and opinions. We are forced to attend, filter and decide at great speed. It is common and justified to feel confused, overwhelmed. Unfortunately our mind, under all kinds of pressure and urgency, makes decisions that do not always lead us to a successful conclusion.

From a healthy irony, we stop to analyze who are the most common errors in our thought processes, both intuitive and wrong reasoning.

Based on everyday and current examples, these sessions pose a conversation between the sciences and humanities to understand how we reason to think better and make less mistakes.

From the Meridià Zero Association, and with the collaboration of the Department of Culture of the Javea Town Hall, a cycle of six talks has been organized under the title, "Think enmig del soroll", in which, by Vicente Botella Soler and Javier López Alós, fundamental issues will be discussed about how we think and decide, and especially how our reasoning makes water in certain situations.

It will talk, among many other things, of cognitive traps, logical fallacies, scientific method, uses and abuses of data and statistics, our turbulent relationship with chance and probability or our clumsiness for prophecies. How to face the constant flood of information, rumors, half-baked lies, superstitions and conspiracies that is now our daily living.

The cycle is aimed at the general public, no prior knowledge is required. They will take place every Wednesday from October 28 to December 2 at the Duanes Library, at 18 pm.

To participate in person or online, it is required that an e-mail be sent to daualdeu@gmail.com. The face-to-face capacity will be limited to 30 people. When registering, you must indicate whether you prefer the online or face-to-face option.
