Themed, inclusive, safe and bio-healthy. This will be two of the playgrounds in Xàbia. The Mayor of Xàbia, José Chulvi and the Councilor for Children, Montse Villaverde, have presented the reform projects of the parks of Thiviers and Freginal. Projects in which the government team has been working together with the Council of Xiquets and Xiquetes who have contributed their ideas and preferences.
The councilors have commented that both recreational spaces will undergo a comprehensive reform that includes channeling, lighting, surveillance cameras, security doors and games adapted to all ages and creativity. And, as the mayor has commented, "the actions contemplate that the parks can be closed at night with which a surveillance system will be installed to try to prevent vandalism, the main problem in the parks."
The investment in the Reina Sofía Park and in the Plaza Játiva Park exceeds 400.000 euros and they are scheduled to go out to tender in January 2021.
Thiviers Park (Queen Sofia)
The new park will be adapted and integrated into the terrain of this space. Under the theme 7 seas, This place will host three areas, which are divided into children's games, bio-healthy area and sports area.
Thiviers park will be tendered for 253.000 euros and will have as a main children's play block shaped like a pirate ship, a sports area with goals and baskets, a hillside slide with a climbing wall taking advantage of the park's unevenness and another space with classic games tables and a last one with biosaludable activities for adults.
Freginal Park (Játiva Square)
The cost of remodeling this park is budgeted at 185.000 euros and its theme will be 'Contes de Fades'. Due to its proximity to sports areas of the municipality, the Consell d'Infancia clarified that it did not have a sports area but it did have a play area for early childhood, the little ones.
The other area will host children's games designed such as towers and floats or accessories such as a jumper (trampolines). It will also include a gym area for adults (bio-healthy machines).
Performances in other parks
Municipal officials thanked the children's council for its involvement in these projects and assured that they have made proposals with the needs of each neighborhood and of different ages in mind. In the last council, held yesterday, they were already asked which are the next parks that should be renovated and they proposed that of Fray Jaime Ibañez (located in the Duanes de la Mar neighborhood) and Montaner Park.
Also, from the Town hall have indicated that other 500.000 euros in the improvement of the 18 municipal parks, action that has already been launched.
If the Reina Sofia Park sketch is the one to be applied, I see a problem in the intermediate access from the north. Its slope is very steep, it is dangerous like the current one, it should be adapted to the regulations d access for the disabled and its unevenness.
