Dear friends:
After all we've lived together in recent days, it has been demonstrated once again that the best heritage of Xàbia are the people; that human quality of our neighbors, solidarity, devotion and affection, are the treasure that makes it great this town. To pain - now and then - the people of Xàbia has reacted together, with respect and common sense.
The examples are endless and exciting. In every show of mourning it had really authentic feeling of closeness with families and friends. Every word, every gesture and every silence there was a village behind that does not neglect his own.
And there has been no distinction between xabieros born here or elsewhere in the world. All are ours.
As for the Municipal Corporation, I want to thank the councilors 20 because they have lived up permanently and without distinction. I know that everyone has been permanently overturned on what was necessary from the outset. And it will remain so as long as necessary.
Nor do I want to forget about Valencian institutions. Both from the Valencian Generalitat (Ministry of Health and Presidency) as well as from the Alicante Provincial Council and the rest of the Municipalities of the Marina Alta and Safor, the help and signs of affection have been very important. Also from the Government Delegation, the Civil Guard, Police, Red Cross, Civil Protection and, of course, the health services of Dénia, Alzira and València. They have all shown remarkable professionalism and sensitivity. On the side of civil society, the entire sports family, and in a very special way the Club d'Atletisme Llebeig and the Club Ciclista Jávea, It has offered a fantastic example that comes to us all.
Finally, I want to thank the local and regional press tact and humanity that have tried this misfortune. They have managed to become channelers of the feelings of our people and inform without overstepping the bounds of respect. Thank you.
Now we can only go with the families of the victims and continue to give our support to the extent necessary. The memory of Edu, Luis Alberto and José Antonio has to keep us together and must be an example for all of us. Xàbia I will not forget you.
And we continue to strengthen Andres and Scott. We need them with us and we want to see them soon reintegrated into the lives of their people and their families. Let's go!
Dear neighbors, what we have done together, this people, this society, this way of being together is very big and we have to take care of it. Therefore, as Mayor of Xàbia, I also want to thank you all what you do every day, your way of doing things essential normal.
We have to live generously and give importance to what really matters.
